Norman L. Dombrowski
Norman Leo Dombrowski, 75, of Stevens Point, passed away Thursday morning, March
7, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Norm was born the first of eight
siblings on September 9, 1937 in the town of Stockton, Wisconsin to the late Leo
and Philomen (Patoka) Dombrowski. He received his baptism, first communion and
confirmation at St. Mary Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher. He attended
First through Third grade at Liberty Corner School; fourth grade at St. Mary's.
In sixth grade he moved to Stevens Point and attended St. Peter Catholic School,
and then graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School class of 1956 with perfect
attendance award for all four years. He graduated from Mid - State, Technical
College, Wausau.
He worked for the Bureau of Engineering in Madison, and then transferred to the
Wisconsin Department of Transportation in Wisconsin Rapids, retiring after 42
years. Norm loved working with people on area road and bridge projects
throughout District 4 in Wisconsin. He received a recognition award for his
public relations from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. He married
Lucille (Marlene) Osowski, on November 12, 1960 at St. Ladislaus Church in
Bevent. She survives.
Norm will be remembered for his love of polka music, gardening, hunting and
working in the outdoors. He always had a smile on his face and brought joy to
others. Norm began his polka legacy playing drums in 1957. In 1960 he helped
form the Happy Notes orchestra and continued to perform until the present time.
Norm was selected to perform in Washington D.C. for the Smithsonian and
Wisconsin Sesquicentennial. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the
Wisconsin Polka Hall of Fame.
Norm was a devote Catholic and member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens
Point, The Knights of Columbus, and the Loyal order of the Moose. Survivors
include his wife of 52 years Lucille (Marlene). Five children: Mark Dombrowski,
Marie Kubowski (Mark Monte), Jon (Shawn) Dombrowski, Joe (Lori) Dombrowski and
Jane (Mark) Wisinski. 12 Grandchildren Amy and Nicholas (fiancée Megan) Kubowski,
Matthew, Michael, Jonah, Nathan, and Jacob Dombrowski, Danielle Luedtke, Neal,
Allison, Jacqueline, and Crystal Wisinski. Sisters Nancy Walkush of Waupaca,
MaryAnn (Dave) Drefcinski, JoAnn (Ken) Scheidt, Carol (Fritz) Menzel all of
Stevens Point. Brothers Bob (Janet) Dombrowski of Las Vegas, Chet (Mary)
Dombrowski of Stevens Point and Bill (Sue) Dombrowski of Davis CA. . One sister
in law Diane (Alex) Swiderski of Mosinee. Two brother in laws Donald (Diana)
Osowski of Kronenwetter and Larry (Judy) Osowski of Bevent. He is preceded in
death by his parents, Father and Mother in laws Nick and Alice Osowski, brother
in laws Dick Walkush and Mark Smolen. In lieu of flowers a memorial in his name
will be established at a later date.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at St.
Peter Catholic Church. The Rev. Arul Joseph V. along with Rev. Chester Osowski
will officiate. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Friends may call
Monday from 4-8 P.M. at St. Peter Catholic Church 800 Fourth Ave. Stevens Point,
and from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services Tuesday morning at the Church. The
Knights of Columbus will combine with a general rosary at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday eve.

Norm was truly honored to perform for so many family weddings, anniversaries,
church picnics and celebrations. He has now been called to perform in the Grand
Old Polka band in heaven!
